The Ventura County Great
Cloth Diaper Change 2017!
Now is the time to pre-register for this year's Great
Cloth Diaper Change (GCDC) on Saturday April 22nd! You can participate in
GCDC if you use cloth diapers full time, part time or have never used them at
all! The rules have changed a bit to allow an even more inclusive event - everyone counts! There is no height restriction and all cloth diapers may be used as well as cloth trainers!
So what is the Great Cloth Diaper change all about? GCDC is an annual, international event that started in 2011. It was born out of the need to have a fun event to create support for cloth diaper users, build community and advocacy and to help raise funds for the Real Diaper Association. Participants gather across the globe to change their babies into a 100% reusable cloth diaper or cloth trainer in an attempt to break the World Record for the most cloth diapers changed in one day! For more information about the benefits of cloth diapers please see the Real Diaper Association's website.
Thanks to and The Real Diaper Circle for Ventura County for making this event happen!
Where: Plaza Park as part of the Ventura Earth Day
What do I bring: We will be changing our babies and toddlers on the ground so please bring something to lay them on (blanket, changing mat, etc). For this record, each baby must be changed from any type of diaper into a reusable cloth diaper.
If you make this is a family event and have an older sibling that would like to participate, bring a baby doll so that they can participate in the Mini Great Cloth Diaper Change!
Are there rules to follow? Yes there are:
- For this record, each baby must be changed from any type of diaper into a 100% reusable cloth diaper or cloth trainer. No disposable inserts in a hybrid shell allowed.
- All Babies and toddlers
- Each baby must be paired with exactly one adult participant. No additional siblings or adults are allowed in the official change zone.
What's the current record? Congratulations
and thank you to all past Great Cloth Diaper Change participants and
supporters!! Ventura County 's
participation has steadily grown each year and we hope to see even more
participants this year! Our 2012 event included 43 participant pairs (adult and
baby pair) and grew to 66 participant pairs in 2013! In 2014 we had 69
participant pairs qualify towards the world record! In 2015 we had 57
participant pairs! I am very happy with our event attendance. Families
outgrow diapers every year yet our community's enthusiasm
continues to steadily grow! Thank you!
